Hood Emblem for my FJ40

Hey guys, my first post on this site.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure a PO drilled the holes in your hood. I say that only because the original FJ25 holes are about 1 3/16 up from the bottom lip of the hood, and yours look to be much higher than that. Then again, there are so many variations on Cruisers between 1955 and 1962 you never know. I have a picture taken in '61 of a '61 40 with the air intake in the driver apron like a 25. I think Toyota was using up whatever left over parts were laying around. Check the spacing between the holes. Like 65swb45 said, they're exactly 5.5" apart on center. And yes, I do still have some Thunderbirds.

You can put a 25 hood on a 40. But you'll either have to get a set of 25 aprons, or move the hood lock downs forward on the hood to match the lock catch on the 40 apron (and that would be a shame). There is also a section of the hood that will have to be notch to clear the drip rail on the body between the hood hinges. My advice is... if you're putting it on a 40, don't use a 25 hood. Use an early 40 hood and drill 2 holes in it for the emblem. That way you don't have to worry about the lock down position and aprons. Aside from the emblem holes and the lock down position, the two hoods are the same.
