The hood on my 97 is in poor condition and missing the hood liner. I have access to a free hood from a 91 in much better shape with a hood pad so I was just going to swap the hoods.

I decided to do new struts while I was at it but I noticed while I was buying struts that the struts were either for a 96-97 model or a 91- 95 model.

This has got me wondering if there are any differences between the 91 hood and my 97 that will prevent me from swapping the hoods?

Any thoughts or input is appreciated, Thanks

95-96 seems like an odd year for there to be any difference in the struts as there were pretty much no changes from 95 to 97. This is just conjecture, but my money's on the strut company's spec sheet being off somehow.

:edit: also various dealer parts websites list the same part for 91-97 for the hood.

Thanks, you have officially inspired me to go for it. I will find out one way or another tomorrow and update with the results.

Am I the only one who absolutely HATES hood gas struts? Just one more thing that inevitably fails, and really doesn't make things that much easier to start with. Ditch the struts and put on the manual rod:

53451-60010 - ROD, HOOD SUPPORT
53452-90351 - CLAMP, HOOD SUPPORT
90480-15002 - GROMMET(FOR HOOD SUPPORT ROD)

All still easily available for about $20 total, and you'll never have to worry about that bonnet smacking you on the head again.
