Hood Cushion Supports

Ok, 28 years and one of the rubber hood cushion supports has given way from metal fatigue. The other side isn't much better.

Options?

Will JB Weld hold it well enough?
Welding shop to tack it back in place? It doesn't need to be pretty.

remove the old captive nut, straighten as best as you can and weld a large washer over the area with a new captive nut so adjustability of the rubber stopper remains

That's doable and with some loctite added in.

@ajax1 Something like this! Lock nuts underneath. Feels pretty solid.
