Hello, I am in the middle of a frame of restoration of an HJ45LP LWB Truck. It appears to me to have some after-market or home made shackles in the rear. Also I believe the original springs have helpers on them. My plan is to go with OME suspension which I guess is Dakar. I am interested in the Deluxe Kit from Man-a Fre that has everything: springs, shackles, u-bolts, shocks, stablizer. Had a bad experience with Man-a-Fre some years back. Before I spend this much I want to be sure of what I am getting and others experiences first. I am near Atlanta so shipping will also kill me. But I do want the right suspension for this project. Attached is a picture of what I have now. Any help greatly appreciated!!

i was checking the pics...looks very nice!

Personally, what I was going to do was put some springs from Alcan on it. Then you can customize to any height you want. They run about $200 a spring but you can do whatever. 1" 1.5" 2" etc. So if you didn't want the 2.5" lift from OME you could get straight factory height on up to 6" You then could just buy the u-bolts, shackles, shocks from any other of the vendors here.

I would run Alcan 2.5" lift springs, Bilstein 5100 shocks and get the other parts from cruiseroutfitters.com or any of the mud vendors.

Mark (65swb) has a set of Alcan's on his 45. I had a set on my Old 55 and loved the way it rode.

The easiest solution would be to just get the full Old man Emu kit. I would order from Kurt at cruiseroutfitters as well if you go that route.

can't wait to see the HJ finished!

Wadesters,
I bought that OME Dakar kit that you are considering and I got it from Man A Fre.

I ordered it with the anti inversion option and was expecting to get the typical 3 pin anti inversion shackles that everyone seems to run. Instead, I got standard 2 pin shackles and a little kit with a couple of steel plates that you are supposed to weld onto the frame to make them anti inversion. At some point I will probably buy a set of the 3 pin shackles. I never welded the plates to my frame, and it is already powder coated.

Just my .02.
