Hinges with rubber gaskets/pads? (1 Viewer)

Inching my way toward re-assembly...in taking it apart, the hood hinges had rubber gaskets underneath, appearing to be OEM.

Is that correct? Are any others supposed to have those? Seemed like the rest were just plain...

I think only the hood hinges had the gaskets. However, I bought a roll of 1/16 rubber to make gaskets for all of the other hinges. I thought that after all of the hard work of restoring the truck I would minimize paint on paint contact.

Cushion Hood Hinge - Toyota (53412-90300) $9.25 list EACH.​

Go with @macdaddy59 and buy a roll of neoprene/EPDM, some hole punches from Harbor Freight and an X-acto knife.

Good for any exterior parts that are painted and bolted to the body/doors. This avoids paint-to-paint contact.

That's what I figured...I already have the rubber on hand, as well as the punches, but wasn't really sure why they only put them on the hood hinges.

Oddly enough, the OEM ones on the hood did trap a little water, though, so they were the only ones that had rust underneath...
