Uuuh, the 'factory' bottle jack won't quite pick up my FJ60 (w 35x12.50) hi enough for tire change UNLESS I crib bottle,,,,and I do carry 2x4's and some 4x4's ( foot or so long).

Have used Hi-lift (4footer) many times. as said above, utilize the bumper bolts.
I now have ARB front Kaymar rear bumpers; bought the 'gizmo' that 'connects' hi-lift to bumpers...
Last ime I tried to change a front tire, both front tires came off ground ! brace - block the rears !

OK I have the solution.

Get 2 cables about 6-7 feet long and some good stakes. Secure the cables to the top of the jack, then attach them to the stakes at the sides of the jack. No more tippy (sideways anyway)!!!

Hi-Lifts can bend when maxed out
bent hi-lift.webp

hehe

when i 1st got my hi-lift, i was jacking my rig up, to make sure i knew EXACTLY how to do it correctly. I mustve not had a great hand on it , and POP...right in the jaw. damn thing knocked me out cold. after what mustve been 2-3 seconds, i came to. felt like it had knocked out a tooth, or broke my jaw. thank god it was only a busted lip. thats one way to learn what NOT to do.

In addition to a strap or chain around the axle and frame I have learned to use the High Lift on nerf bars or rock sliders instead of lifting by the bumper. The truck is way more stable when lifted from the side vs the end IMHO.

Good point, I have had my hi lift for a while and still have not used it. When I do use it I will lift vie the sliders.
