Wow & Nice! Why can't we get that here? :)
Would be fun to go for a drive through town like that. :)

I wonder how much water he took on. Usually stays sealed until the water starts coming in vents. Until that point you can run the fan to keep a slight positive cab pressure.

BTW: Was that a hilux?

Cheers,
N.

Yes, that was a Hilux. He posted in the comments section that he took on about 2" of water front and back and had to change out the oil in his difs. As I understand it, most people usually run extenders on their breathers to the top of the snorkel. Not sure why this truck didn't have it, as it is cheap and pretty easy to do. I think he did have the vent fan on as you can see the front window begin to fog pretty good towards the end. I guess if you really wanted to make it more water tight you would have to run a seperate snorkle for your vent air.

What happens to the starter?

It gets wet ...and royally ... :grinpimp:. But then it is a gov vehicle and the gov pays to have it fixed.

Actually, I haven't heard issue with either having the starter or alternator under relatively clean water. The Aussies usually have issues with the starter and alternator when they have been playing in mud soup.
