After getting the suspension lift almost done, I found out that I have to change to cross over steering and want to do the high steer as well. Do the high steer arms accept the stock tie rod ends? I would rather just buy the arms if I can.

no they are tapered for fj80 TRE's.

I dont know what they cost, but Marlin sells a "1 ton fj80 tre" that is considerably larger than the normal fj80 tre. Just something to think about if the prices arent that different.

Why are you modifying anything? as it is half the group cant keep up with you

Looked into it a little.

Im not sure if you can use the arms and avoid using the rest of the kit. once you go to the fj80 tre's (stockers are about $15 marlins are $30), you then need the linkage, then you need another fj80 tre at the pitman arm, meaning you need the pitman arm tapered for that tre.

The kit might be the way to go.

I guarentee Bill will be less capable after he has messed with the truck

OH and I forgot the solid axle mini's need to be converted to the IFS steering box for high steer.

The "different" pitman arms arent always necessary. When you put in the IFS box you have to make your own mount (or buy the kit). So you can move the box forward if you need to or rotate it to make the pitman happier. But again its not always necessary, my box is in the stock location, and my pitman is the normal one. Plus my axle is moved forward and im lower than most, which usually causes more problems.

Sorry Bill, I guess this thread is filled with bad news for you.

If he changes that truck I may need a new Hero........taking applications.........the pay sucks, but you can be someones Hero!!
There is one stipulation, you have to camp, no hotels.

and you cant trailer like a little bitch. A trailer queen should be no ones hero.

:flipoff2:

I agree........I am not hero material......I am comfortable looking up.
I also think Vicki is Hero material, what a trooper and she probably doesn't even know it!!

Damn you Bill!

This is like finding out snuffleupagus (my personal hero) sucked dick for coke. :crybaby:

I have a Nissan Frontier steering box I got for free that I will be using for the cross over. I will probably end up doing a primitive Pete cross over 'cause the kits a little more than I can afford with the tax man knocking at my door.

Thanks for the info.

does a "primitive pete" involve welded steering arms?

no need, one of my hobbies is collecting booty fab pics. I love em.

You know if Bill makes it, it will be cool & look professional. That's how he does things.

However, feel free to post up some cool "booty fab" pics, John.

But of course!:hillbilly:
This should only be a temp fix to get the daily driver back. I should be able to afford the high steer set before PYS.

My five minutes of fame (read hero) was all used up after SMORR.
