When I start my Bj70 (1985) the idle is fine and in normal range. But when the engine gets warm it idles at between 1200-1500 RPM's.

Is this normal? If not, what are the consequences of the high idle (besides lost fuel economy)?

What could be wrong and what can be done to fix it?

Thanks for your help.

My bj70 3b diesel is doing the same. Does anyone have any picture of what it looks like.
I just got mine a year ago for 500$ and been good till up to a week ago
Even lucked out and it has the 5bearing cam in it :-)

Check your diaphragm at the back of the pump under the cover with 4 flat head screws. Also check the 2 vac hoses that connect to the pump from the throttle body/venturi. If any air leakage is present, it will idle high and over fuel eventually.
You can use fuel hose for the vacuum lines, just transfer the springs from inside the old lines to the new ones.
