Yes, it can be done! I did it to my old head stock headlights just like the ones above but a 2000 model headlight, it was a real big pain in the rump. It was a weekend project for me (at least 15-18 hrs it took me)... I guess it was slow but worth it until someone played baseball with my headlights, a year or so later. I seem to have real bad luck. Decided I would try out the same projectors SLEE put on the blueberry sas, no complaints except I miss the glass oem headlight.

For those doing the retrofit, here is an alternative location for the ballasts.

Those are the exact ballasts I have. I'll get a pic of how mine are mounted in the next couple of weeks.

Can this be done on a '99?
Yes but you may want to get headlamps (either the one-piece OEM or aftermarket) that are clear (smooth surface). The OEM glass ones as I remember are fluted and might scatter the light.

If i want to drive a car with a LS430 projector.....................well I'll just drive the LS430.

Has anyone mounted projectors in the 98-02 housings?

I have been looking into it lately. I can get a pair of projectors (e-class) from Classic Collision for cheap. Only thing holding me back is there might not be enough room. I just don't see a projector fitting in there and looking half way OEM.

I had a '02 4x4 durango with a 360 motor and 42k miles (for towing/hunting only and it was dirt cheap). A lot of guys on those durango/dakota forums were using the projectors from the retrofit source with really good results.
