Yeah I'm gonna, as well as the led rears.

Question is what bulb would work on the other side for high?

If you're talking about the DEPO's the highbeams are H1's.

My take on HID's and these DEPO's is that they have a better chance of working properly than the OEM headlights because the globes have a shade covering over them, unlike the US-spec OEM headlights, controlling the light better, MAYBE!!!

I know some had very good results with the same set-up (Not sure about the brand of the HID kits), while someone like "treeroot", for one, did not like his HID kit in his DEPO before he went with projector HID's.

I know it would be the h1, any ideas on bulbs that would compliment the other hid bulb is what I was trying to say.

I'd buy them, add the slee wiring. Think I'd be set.

You mean the color of the bulb then?

If it were me I would get the brightest (not bluest) possible just so I can see better, since I would not care that much if the color of the brights matched the lowbeams.

I drive in a deer country and value more lumens over matching colors. :hillbilly:

But if you want to color match, then I would guess any blue-tinted bulb would suffice. ;)

8000k really blue?

I'd want a brighter bulb for high beams, not hotter( and start being purple or more Blue)

8k is really blue. You want the most light stick to 4300 or 5000 at the most

Doesn't need to since you won't normally be using both at same time. If it were mine I'd do 4300k on all.

Those are just cheap HID bulbs dropped into the H4 housing. Better/safer than HID bulbs in the OEM housing, the Depo's are clear lenses instead of the OEM lenses (which are shaped/fluted to direct the light), but still not as good as projectors, and still illegal to run.

You get some additional brightness, but then run the risk of burning the truck to the ground. (And I've heard multiple stories of cheap eBay HID's starting fires. So it does happen.)

I personally would never run cheap eBay HID lights.

The human eye actually doesn't see well at all in the blue spectrum. That's why you can often see better with that old fashioned flashlight with the "dim" yellow bulb than the cheap "bright" LED flashlights. Interestingly enough, we're actually more sensitive to blue than red or yellow (which is one of the reasons why blue is used for emergency lights).

Running as close to yellow (without actually being yellow) as possible will give you the best bang for your buck. Somewhere around 4k. To give you an idea of the range, sunrise is about 3000, noon sun is about 5000.

You do use both at the same time. Toyota doesn't shut off the low beams when the highs come on.

Did you put them in the stock housing? If so did you sand the glass ridges?

I have a hundy with depo housings and I had projectors in the stock housing as well! It was easy and only slight trimming

Pic of your setup?

Correct but you don't " normally" drive with your highs and lows on is what I meant. For me anyways. Too many other cars on the road.

I know you mean though, your highs are rarely used (for most of us), so color matching isn't much issue.

I just was pointing out that if highs are on, lows are at the same time. Some are OCD enough that would be a problem if they were mismatched.

I run 5000k HID in my dims. No issues with police or other motorist so long as I am not pulling a trailer. For what it is worth I have installed the same kit in the Chief of Polices truck the Sgts Truck and 5 or so other officers vehicles.....not worried about an HID ticket here.

A lotta glare up in this thread.

Not a good idea.

It will blind oncoming traffic since the housings aren't designed to use hids. You can buy the DEPO headlights on ebay that use H4 and H1 bulbs that produce a better pattern or you can retrofit projectors in the depo lamps. If you want to keep your oem lights try a set of HIR's.

If you crave good lighting do a retrofit. It's not terribly difficult but time consuming.

YOU may be able to see, but the people in front of you cannot. There is a reason it's against the law to put hid's in halogen reflector housings.

do you have a write up on that projector that you used? That sure is bright. I need to do this
