Hi torque starters (1 Viewer)

Is there an actual hi torque starter that is available for our FZJ's? One of my 80 I think may have one. I can tell the difference when I crank her up. It's a completely different sound compared to any of my others that I own or previous ones from the past. But is there such a thing? Can't tell from the outter she'll as they both look the same as far as dimensions. If anyone has any information I'd like to know so that I can buy one for my other 80's.

I am pretty sure there are 2-3 different power versions.

My understanding is that the 2.2kw isn't too easy to find.

I'd check resistance with an ohmmeter. It could be that over time the cables might be corroding or a contact is not as good as it used to be.

and yes there are. If you have an earlier 80 you might have the 2.2kw version. Generally considered quite unnecessary. The truck is still starting with either one correct ?
