I'm getting mixed opinions on whether i can change out my Aisin FHT 012 or 013 to an Aisin FHT 008. Only switching as i cant source the original in Nz and honestly prefer the red hub can anyone clarify if there's any internal differences between the two or is it only the colour? Cheers boois

As far as i can see they're the exact same 33mm, 30 spline with a 90mm p.c.d and the Inner Hole Diameter: 33.231mm and 31.115mm. They all match. I've looked through a lot of the threads on here and cant see a clear yes or no

Thread 'Aisin free wheel hubs'

I'm a bit baffled by the range of different AISIN free-wheeling hubs available (for example on the Cruiser Outfitters site) and the non-specific application specs.

I see two material differences - spline count and case design. The spline count is obvious, but what about the fully round hub compared to the waisted type with strange cutouts on the mounting flange? The bolt/stud pattern is surely the same, so what's the purpose of the shaped type?

And does anyone know if there is a material difference between the red and bronze dials?

How about between IFS and solid axle hubs?

I'm keen to...

You can use 2, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, etc… They all the share same spline count.

HUBFHT008 is the most popular as many of the others have superseded to it:
