I have to specify that I need the frame side mounts. My 2F has the 'engine' mounts already on it, plus I have what could be the original F 'engine' mounts. I have frame mounts, but they may be the problem 40 mounts. The holes in the frame are welded, so I don't really know where they are supposed to mount. I may need to look at a 55 and take some pictures/measurements.

yep - I understood ya- I can measure the distances between the frame mounts fore and aft and - also could make a template if that would help for fabbing a set up.

Okay, cool. A fabbed set may be my only option.

After taking a mental inventory of what I have, I need a bunch of stuff! I don't have the bell housing mounts or the trans crossmember . . .

There is no transmission crossmember-just a couple of frame tabs that the bellhousing mounts to. I have those and will hold them for you. After thinking about the PO's dilemna in finding motor mounts I am now sure he was not aware that the 2F motors are offset to one side.

You could use those as the frame rails for your tube buggy:D

Those are nice! Are those rocker replacements?
My 55 won't see anything close enough to justify those.

Yeah, you could be right! I took a picture of the mounts I have:

I believe 1 & 2 are the FJ40 F Frame mounts, 3 & 4 are bell housing mounts, 5 & 6 are the FJ40 F Block mounts, and 7 & 8 are the rubber bits. Sound right?

The 2F has the large bracket mounts on it already.

I appreciate the help Tim!

BTW: Here are some recent pictures after a wash . . .

Very nice and clean, love stock pure 55's till they rust then its the run of the swine.

Those are rocker cut out sliders.

Sweet - I think you have all the correct stuff for mounting the motor to the frame and the rear mounts I removed would complete it. You would just need to weld on a couple of side tabs or a square plate to remount them to the frame.

I also think I may have a FSM that has frame dimensions on it. if I do- I will scan it this weekend and get it to you.

Awesome! That's good to hear. I really want to get this on the road ASAP.

I have an old FSM. It does show dimensions to the rear frame mounts, but not for the front!?

Very nice Reid! Reminds me of my first Cruiser a 72' Pig, except mine had a ton of rust.
I didn't know you had a Pig! That's rad. This one has very little rust. I need to have a professional nip it in the bud before it becomes like 90% of the other 55's out there.

Yep, had one for about 3 years in the mid 1990's. I spent about a year and a half just doing the body work and paint. Was forced to sell it for some financial reason:rolleyes: that I don't even remeber now.

Man I miss that truck. Funny thing, I was driving back from a surf trip in 2000 and saw it pass me in Ensenada with my shadetree paint job. Long live the Pig!!:steer:

Nice.
I knew that piggy would sure clean up with a good wash.
Yeah, it really did! It must have been kept under a cover or in a garage, because paint doesn't hold up like that in the direct desert sun. It's all shiny and smooooth . . . .
