It makes the hood a good light work table. It has great abrasion resistance. I think it looks cool.

If you just want to cover the worn paint have you considered a hood blackout? I'm going to blackout the hood of my 80 to cover worn paint. The blackout vinyl is easy to remove unlike bedliner.

So you already did it or plan to? IMHO, w/ a worn down rig you only do two things, seal it off w/ satin or flat clear and call it "patina" or go full respray.

As for the herculiner/textured finish IMHO there's too many little imperfections that reflect light right back at your eyes from what I saw after driving a customer's rig that had it done.

When I repainted the hood on my 94 pickup I just painted it a mat black.

Did you put on the UV coating? I ask because I did the bed of my pickup a few years ago and it has faded and in places is a bit chalky. The sun works on this stuff, so if I redo it I will look at a coat of the UV coating to help keep it looking new. You may want to check it out since the hood is going to get brutalized by the sun.

That said, I like it.
