Anyone know about the '97 Ford Explorer? One of my nephews has one that he can't get to pass emissions. His dad said he replaced all the sensors and the pcv valve, yet no luck. I suggested checking all the hoses for any cracks or leaks. He said he could not find any. He can't remember the code that was read on the OBII scanner, so that does not help much. I have one, so I am going down tomorrow to see if I can help. One more question, does anyone have a link to any of the downloadable FSM's. I found some of the ones on Mud, but they did not have this vehicle.

have you checked out any of the Explorer forums for insight into this issue? Might be worth a looksie.

I found some last night. I called back last night and my sister found the codes that first came up (171 & 174). It appears to be a common problem on them. He got those removed and 133 came up. Same issues on the forum that some have had. A few things I need to look at before he does anything else. At least I know what to look at for now. Only thing to get over is that he disconnected the battery, so I will have to retrace his steps to find the first problem. Many to chose from, bad sensor from VatoZone, leak in a hose, take your pick. Should be able to get it right.
