When I first got my '17 LC, I tried to play a DVD to see how well it worked. It wasn't until I had the car in park and the parking brake on before I could make it work. Have you tried with both the parking brake set and the LC in park?
The rear HDMI input plays into the rear screens. You can use the rear system going down the road, no need to park. You need to use the remote control and set the rear source to "Rear-HDMI", after the system is turned on. Keep in mind the HDMI input on the LC is low-res only at 480p, 576p, and VGA. If your player doesn't support those specs, it may not be compatible. The owner's manual calls it "high-definition video", but I think they mean by 20 year old standards!
I know this has been beat to death but it blows my mind an 80k plus vehicle and we don't have the option to opt out of that crap system. Your better off just using an iPad, HD and soooo much easier. I have a 2011 and it's PITA to set the video up while driving, usually the wife is hanging on the center console, leaning into the rear using the DVD remote. And the video playback is decent at best, although the sound stystem for the movies is real good.
That I don't know.Is an iPad the only option, no cheap media devices?
Will that Netgear work on the rear hdmi? That and the Netgear and a Chromecast. That's all I've tested.
