Hello all,

I have a 1976 fj40 that I can’t get to start. It hasn’t been running in 2-3 years due to just never having the time to fix it. I haven’t yet drained the fuel and refreshed everything I am planning to do that tomorrow. What I am worried about is what took it out of commission in the first place. When it was last running all I had done was an oil change but right after it lost power going up a hill and the oil pressure bottomed out briefly. Got it home then about two days later it died and I couldn’t get it to start back up. I have serious doubts that I could have caused that just with an oil change but figured I would include it just so you guys have all the info. Does anyone know what’s going on? My suspicion is it was just crazy coincidence that something happens in the fuel system so that’s where I was going to begin my investigation. Hoping to get it running soon any help is very much appreciated!

Posting an update in case anyone ever needs help with this. Replaced the fuel pump which was the root cause of the power loss and oil pressure loss and threw on a new fuel filter. I also replaced the old fuel lines and got it going again. Took me a while to figure out it did indeed have a fuel pump and a mechanical one at that and I pretty much feel like an idiot but hopefully my idiocy can help someone else in getting an old cruiser running. Thanks
