Please don't condemn me... I searched! My 91 Land Cruiser needs, in my opinion, new fuseable links. However, I can't get oem ones until wed.! My question is..... I have 3 FL's, 2 with ring terminals that bolt together inside the small black box, the other one has a plastic "snap connector".... can I cut that connector off and crimp the new, generic, FL to it? To me it looks like 1 wire in 1 wire out, so it's just there as a easy connection point..... am I wrong? *the fl's I got from napa are the same gauge as oem.

Why does it need new FL if it was me I would just suck it up until Wed if I can still drive the truck unless it is affecting something.
Well....... truck won't start with bad FL!

Local Toyota dealer doesn't have one?

If EVER I was in an emergency situation concerning the fuseable link, I would remove it completely and run an 80A Blue Sea circuit Breaker in its place.

No, they don't! Crazy I know. That's what I was basically going to do. Instead of a 80 amp fuse I was going to splice in the exact same size fuseable link. It's just generic, no plug on the end.

Got yeah in the original post it made it sound like it wasn't a confirmation just on its way out.

Lol.... my fault, I wasn't very clear.

It :::seems::: like that would work, but when @NLXTACY drops his way, I generally supercede to his way.

That said, yeah - a Blue Sea box is more than the fuse links in hand & the ones on order. So while a awesome thing I'd do if I was against a wall, the ROI isn't there (unless a sub panel is going in anythow - then have at!).

I'd do exactly what you're doing, worst case scenario you flip back -n- forth, finding yours are OK, or roached. You have Toyota sending you more, so you'll survive 'till Fri.

Ok, new problem! Changed fuseable links for nothing... they were fine! (Oh well... it was time!) But, still no cel on key turn! I checked and have 12 volts at brass screw inside of yndeehood fuse box, but only 3.7volts at B+ on firewall! I'm thinking relay? Thanks for the input!

Anything from corrosion to a crap link to like you say, a bad relay.

Go back to the 'bad' links - isolation of variables time.
(Not trying to talk over/under you, IDK your level of electrical experience)

Don't worry about offending, I have thick skin! Lol
Same with either links. Put old back on, and started the "flow chart" and I still get 12.7volts at brass screw inside box but only 3.7vilts at B+

I read somewhere that some had to run heavier gauge wiring from relay to B+, because the wire T used was undersized.???

Ok, new "loop"! I pulled relay out of box and 2 of the "lugs" look burnt! Almost like a "not quiet" burnt marshmellow! Sorry, getting hungry!

Damn.... I wish I knew which one, and what it's for... I could switch them and see if that helps.

@Marine7 - Are you able to test the relay you have to know if functionally good?

Are you working from a EWD/FSM here or are we flat flying blind off experience?

Roasted terminals might be b/c it took a hit of amps at some point, but the relay might still be operable.

If it has a pinout on the side do you know the hows of hitting it with a ~9v battery to cycle the relay?

I have electric fsm on computer which sucks ass! Can't find s*** on it! I would love to test relay if I knew which was ground/12v/load! I see 1,2,3,4 but no f'ing other markings

Not the horn relay.... that's under hood and only 3 pin relay

Dumb luck this thread - looks like your relay / the generic flow test for it:

Guidance on Testing Relays per FSM

1st post - you are the same.

Dumb luck I was in both threads the last couple hrs.
