I just can't believe there's not an AC outlet with a small, simple lid that will close over the top. Not a big outdoor home-type outlet, just a single female plug with a lid/door that closes over the top of it. Like the 12V outlets you can get from marine shops.

Want to install a couple in my 80 with an inverter.

I've scoured the web and couldn't find anything.

I checked out a plug for a Tacoma, but it's way too big.

Anyone?

2000-2004 Toyota Avalon's have them. My plug cover is about the size of the plug (but no ground)

are you looking for a 2 or 3 pin ?

There is an on/off control switch on the dash under the ignition. Not sure how big the unit is behind the dash. I could dig up the EWD is you're really interested.

Hmmm. Those look nice. I wonder if C-Dan has the part numbers in stock?

Be prepared for sticker shock, if it's anything like the other Avalon parts I've looked into. Go for salvage. TAP had a few hulks laying around last time I browsed their website...

Sweet.
That's more or less what I'm looking for.
Thanks.

I'd like a 3-prong outlet--so I won't have to deal with adapters if I want to use something with a 3-prong plug.

The grounded Tacoma outlet was pretty nice, but the thing must have been at leas 6 inches square (and about $30).

I plan on switching the inverter with some kind of relay and switch. The Toyota switches look nice, but I bet their $$ and they're likely set-up for plug and play with a plug I don't have...

.

The A/C plug for a 2002 Avalon (part# 85530-41030) is $32.38 msrp and yes, the Tacomas (part# 85530-04010) is $32.35....

Actually I think thats quite reasonable, well at least compared to the Toyota inverter ( part# 86210-04010 ) @ $954.53

That must be one DAMN good inverter

.

Do the Avalon's all have an inverter and does anyone know the rating?

You shouldn't need to switch the power supply to the inverter in order to control it...

Just tap into the switch that's built into the inverter itself.

Save a few bucks and keep things a little more simple...

Good point, but then I have to open up the inverter...
