I have a water leak I am trying to chase down and I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction.

Today is the 2nd time I have noticed water running down my B pillar. I first noticed it back in July and assumed it was a clogged sunroof drain so I purchased a drain clog remover tool off Amazon and shoved it down the sunroof drain. Since I did this, I have had the vehicle hand washed and driven in rain without any noticeable moisture accumulation on the b-pillar. Today I had the Land Cruiser out in the rain and noticed the issue again.

The only difference I can tell is that the days I notice water accumulation is when vehicle stays parked outside for a while. Other than that, I can drive in the rain or wash the vehicle without noticing any water on the b-pillar.

Could water be leaking from somewhere else? I have a Gobi roof rack installed by the previous owner - could that be the source?

In the pic below I have circled where I think the moisture originates from. It definitely seems to originate closer to a point that leads me to believe it’s coming from the sunroof vs something with the rack but maybe I’m not considering something.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using a hose to test methodically starting from low to high. Have a helper and keep at it as it looks like the leak needs soaking to show up.
Better find and fix at this stage than after damaging electricals.

The top of the headliner is somewhat waterproof so water can move around quite a bit before it actually starts soaking through.

First I'd test all four of the sunroof drains. You probably found the easy two in the front.. park the vehicle where each corner is down then pour a glass of water into each corner and make sure the water makes it out. The drain point is under the wheel well liner at the rear of the front wheel wells.

The rear drains are hard to find but work the same way.. park with each corner downhill, then put a cup of water into each.. the drain point for those is behind the rear wheels under the large side plastic bumper skin area.

If all four of those drain adequately.. it must be your roof rack.

Thanks for the info.

I was just in it clearing out the front drain holes again.

Where the hell are the rears??

They are effectively inaccessible. At the rear corners of the sunroof tray.. imagine the sunroof panel slid all the way back.. they'd be at the back edge of that.

The best you can really do with them is verify they drain properly. The good thing is being that far back, they don't seem to get as much of the detritus and crap that clogs the fronts, with those being right under the gasket.

10-4.

Thank you.

Check the rail on the roof. I used to have similar problem, just the passenger side. Had to replace the rail and clean the dirt around.
