I just bought a Helle Jegermester as a fixed blade hunting knife. I've been looking for a knife with balance, fitting my hand and a steel that I can work with. This knife has a layered steel that I like, and a razor sharpness that will be able to be brought back. Beautiful workmanship. I also bought a kit to make one, with my own personal handle design, which I've never done but should be fun and make a nice present for the :princess:

For our recent hunting trip my son bought a B.O.B knife

I was impressed with the quality and performance of this knife. He field dressed his deer and the knife was up to the challenge of breaking the pelvic bones etc. If I had the money right now I'd probably buy the same knife. Just because its a very cool knife.

On the other hand I skinned and quartered my deer with my Opinel #7 so I can't really justify the expense.
