I've been out of it for a while but proboxrox used to be a great source for some enclosures. I used to sell alot of them. There are lots of choices out there. Are you trying to stay behind your 3rd row seat?

I use the 3rd row about 1x a year if that. But at the same time not into something that is going to grab a ton of attention. Eventually I would like to order the ARB drawers. Something fairly small with good quality. I like this JL 8", probably willing run a 10" if I can find something fairly small.

I built my box out if 3/4 mdf for about $15. I sourced 2 jl w0 drivers from Craig'slist for 60. I just need to paint it. So for less than 100 you cold be stylin'. I think the overall dimensions are 24 x 9 x 8. It's two 0.3 cuft enclosures in one box.

I followed your drawer build.... If I had your skills I would build the drawers, and incorporate subs.;) Your shop is pretty cool as well!

:meh: I am going to have to purchase a box!

Cant take credit for the shop... it's a friends. I gotta get back to the drawers and finish them up. being lazy.

MDF is super easy to work with and sub boxes are all square so not much in the fancy cutting dept. Cut pieces screw together. It's pretty easy stuff.

Researching back up cameras I found a Sony built in Japan. Any thoughts of ways to install this? Favorite spot would be on the lower tail gate around the License plate....not so sure about the mount.

Is there a night and day difference between an Alpine amp vs. the JL amp? After listening to you guys the amp will power 2 sets of JL 6.5's, and more than likely a 250 watt JL 8" box. To put things in perspective the JL amp is 40% more expensive than my planned head unit!

JL Audio XD700/5 $480

75 x 4
180 x 1

Alpine MRX-V70 $290

60 x 4
250 x 1

XD700 is kind of a benchmark for others.... The Alpine PDX series would be more comparable.

Features may play into it.... Does the Alpine have bass management with a remote volume option like the XD? When you have a sub I think that's an important feature.

On another topic that Sony camera is pricey compared to something from Pyle which will give you the basic result you need. The Sony is an awesome camera for pic quality but 125 vs 30.

;) Thanks Rob this is helpful!

So the Pyle camera is $27 (license plate mount)

The other camera is $18...any thoughts?

Also any concerns on the 2 volt preamp outputs vs 4 volt on the more expensive head units?

These moderan amps are looking for 4 volt outputs, anything less and the amps will need to add input gain to reach full potential. That may introduce some noise.

It will work - we kind of getting into the nitty gritty here.

I actually have a couple of cams... i use the one on the right in your photo on my rear bumper as a back up cam. It's adequate but it has the distance lines which i dont like. I have this camera now for front view http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004V9G8QQ?tag=ihco-20 and will get another for rear to replace what i have.

Mud, Thanks for all of the help! :)

Rob Red....I will send lots of photos. Thanks for the good advice.

The primary purpose of these stereos is for backup cameras. I wanted to purchase two of Pioneer's 5.8" dvd players but they have a 2 volt out....So I got the 4 volt version to run the 5 channel amp. I will plan on purchasing a Sub further down the road....probably incorporated with drawers.

In Mexico AGM batteries are not heard of. About the best down here are Optima batteries.... I would like to pick up the Sears Platinum but the logistics from the U.S. are a nightmare.
