I am building a stereo for a family cruiser.....going to put the same build in two cruisers. Be fun to turn it up sometimes..... Also a back up camera is going to be part of the plan.

One question is will I need any Metra adapters to add an amp?

Alpine Amp MRX-F50 50x4 $180, Alpine 75x4 have one
Pioneer AVH-P2400BT Bluetooth 5.8" screen $279
JL AUDIO 6.5" COAXIAL SPEAKERS C2650X $109
Jl Audio C2-650 Component System 6.5"
Boyo VTL300CIR Zinc Metal Full Frame License Plate Camera (Black) $102

I would add headrest monitors assuming you have children I got some of the ess units from crutch field. I also got a pioneer DVD with Bluetooth love it.

I want to lose my integrated nav SOOOOOO BADDDD

How about a subwoofer? Since ur going alpine on your other amps and speakers, I have an alpine type R 12'' on a mrx1000 monoblock alpine and it beats with the best systems when u turn it up. But with a Family would highly suggest a bass knob

Yeah Yeah.

Gringo... Please take copious photos of all the connectors, back of the factory radio, and back of the HVAC controller while you are in their. Email them to me please.

I like your system choice but no sub???

I would suggest a 5 ch amp JL or Arc and maybe a small dual 8" sub or single 10".

Part of the family is still be being baked in the oven :) So far we have 1 Ipad, although I suppose these head rest monitors could be a future mod... Do you have strictly monitors, or did you get a separate dvd player?

Both of my 100's came with a dvd player but I removed mine so I could make better use of the Rear View mirror....also no aftermarket headphones made it with either Cruiser.... Mickey Mouses club house gets old after about the 100 time!

I like this idea for my Cruiser....separate box, separate amp. Pretty sure the :princess: doesn't want a sub!

Yeah Yeah.

Rob, where did you place your amps? I was thinking of sticking the 4 channel under the passenger seat. I think for a box, a mono amp would be my preference. A few guys have stuck amps where the stock sub is....I worry a little about heat issues.

I will send some pictures when tearing into this project.... Logistically getting stuff into Mexico is a nightmare....probably a good 8 weeks before this makes it to my door. When you fly in now they X-ray your bag :frown:

Where did the double DIN radio trim plate come from, OEM part?

This was recommended by a member here on mud. I ordered/paid for two...this place sent 1. This place is not much on communication  If I ordered again I would order 1 item per order. I could not locate a good option in North America.

I have a 5 channel Arc under my pass seat. This way I only have to deal with a wire to the sub as opposed to having an entire separate amp and associated wiring. If you do where the stock sub is there wont be a heat issue. Tons of space and the factory grill makes a nice vent for it.

I have a dual 8 box that slides into the front of my drawer system Photo Here Rear Drawer Storage System - TLC FAQ that could easily be stand alone. LJ heard it the other day, I think he was impressed. It's only .6 cuft internal being powered off the 250 watt sub channel in the Arc.

As I'm wrapping up the nav to non nav project for pre 03 it's time to look at 03+... the pics from your truck could give me a head start.

Nice setup. I managed two local audio shops before leaving the industry 4 yrs ago and have gotten behind on stuff. I've been trying to play catch up. I always like seeing people's builds. Like the other guy mentioned, it wouldn't be a bad idea to throw a sub back there. Nothing crazy, just a single vented 10 inch sub would do the trick. You would be amazed to hear how much sound you can get with the proper enclosure and just a 10 inch sub with a little power on it!

looks like you need a new windshield, too!

Is this better amigo? I have been putting this off due to all the bad stories. My other cruiser has a windshield air leak...need to hit 90(140) for it to be heard. Both have Toyota original glass.

Where is a good source to buy a box online? I like JL speakers.

Rob,

Point taken on the 5-channel. Any preference between Arc vs. JL Audio amps?

Once the product arrives I will send lots of pics of the A/C, and other connections.

Dang, all the places selling this double din panel are in UK and want HUGE money to ship it to the US...

You should be able to have two shipped for the same price as a tank of gas! Mine arrived right next to you in Kitsap county. ;)

I was all set to get the JL, it its still my top choice but I got a deal on the Arc I could not pass up. I'm not disappointed in the Arc at all it's a very good sounding amp. It drives the sealed dual 8 sub very well. Excellent extension and control.

buy the 5 channel amp. you can always add a sub later. head rest monitors and flip down monitors are old news. the i pad or other tablet gives you soooo much more.
