Most auto part stores have them and will read your codes for free these days too. I keep mine in my car so I have it where ever I go just in case.

You could also get Techstream set up on your laptop and pull the codes yourself. It will also allow you to do much more than just pull codes. Well worth buying the cable and setting up the software.

Thats interesting, Ill look it up. How much does the software cost? Also which cable do I have to get? Although I will pay someone this time to get the code I wanna get this software if its not too much $$$ for future reference.

Update. Don’t know what to make out of this. I’ve installed a new fuel cap just in case.

I had the catalyst efficiency one time on my 4Runner. It means that your catalytic converter isn’t operating as it should (clogged). I ran two bottles of Cataclean through it following the directions and the code never came back. You may want to reset all the codes and see if they appear again just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke.

Buy a bluetooth ODB2 and load Torque app on your phone and reset the ECU faults. I get this on my truck all the time, unless I run non-Ethanol gas.

It’s free. Search techstream on the forum for more info then you could ever want!

You can buy a OBD II scanner off Amazon for $15. If you get one that also reads live data you can watch things in real time.
Before replacing your cats your need to check your oxygen sensors for proper function first.

Something which I’ve failed to mention is a while back I noticed my muffler assembly leaking water from 2 separate spots on a cold start. Eventually it would slow down that I couldn’t wait around to see if it’s dripping water or not. Could this have caused some kind of issue?

One leak is right behind the muffler towards the rear of the truck, it’s under a clamp. 2nd leak is literally a hole in the muffler facing the front of the truck.

Mufflers don’t leak. If that is water it’s coming from the AC drip line or a puddle you ran thru on the way home.

I've had that same code on rigs that have sat for extended periods. Cleared the code and drove more frequently and it didn't come back.

Hoping this is the case for me. Had CEL come on after not driving rig much, and then started up and moved it 5 feet when low on gas and next start up had CEL. Had code read at Autozone and it’s p1445. Did erase and maybe it was glitch in system. I previously had the SAIS pump/filter assembly replaced with OEM.

Reviving this one. I pulled the below codes and dug a bit deeper. General consensus is “get a new gas cap”. Cleared the codes, and I go to the dealership today because OEM or nothing for this part. Put the new cap on and it’s looser than the original on my 03 LX. It damn near rattles if you give it a shake, where my original cap doesn’t. I’m thinking it’s defective? It’s also MUCH lighter than the original. As soon as I cranked the car after swapping the caps, all 3 lights popped back on. Put the old cap back on, will clear codes tomorrow and see how long it lasts.

Any updates on what the problem was?

Cap didn’t fix it, replaced both vapor purge solenoid, and the other purge valve, replaced charcoal canister, still had the code. I think mine was rust on the filler neck.

The truck got totaled about 4 days after the charcoal canister swap. I pulled all new parts and sent it to copart
