It's been awhile since we've done a HAM Day so it's about time to do it again. Further details will be worked out in the next couple of weeks but if you need help and trust us to work on your rig then mark your calendar.

Who: anyone can attend/Help (Open attendance)
When: Saturday, August 28th 10:00 AM
Where: Amaysing Services (John Schmitt's Boat Docks business)

Tools: Bring your own

3764 Browns Bridge Road
Gainesville, GA 30504

The Last time we did this we had a great turnout of helpers :wrench::wrench:. This year we're looking for 1-3 rigs to work on for the day. The club will pick up the burgers and hot dogs but bring your own beverages.

Tools: We'll have some tools available including a welder or two but plan on bringing whatever you can carry or use. It would be a good idea for the recipients to bring some of the consumables such as grinding wheels, cut off wheels etc. If you'd like to bring weld wire, wire brushes and grinders that would be nice too!

Candidate Rigs:
Must be a current member in good standing (as of today's date) to have your truck considered for the HAM day. Also, plan to bring any and all materials and tools you might need to work on your truck. We'll decide who's truck(s) we're working on at the August meeting.

Suggested Tools to bring
Wrenches
Pry bars
Grinders / wheels
Jack Stands
flash lights
creepers
floor jacks

Soooo..... here's the list of needs from the meeting last night.

Trevor--CV Joint Boot replace
Brian--Knuckle rebuild for the 40
Thomas--Steering box and thermostat (Yeah right he's gonna show!)
Downhill Dave-- Needs cool factor

Did I miss someone?

If you want to be on the list you need to post up. If you need to order parts now is the time.

I could use my cv boots replaced as well. Can you just buy the boot or do I have to order a rebuild kit?

you can probably just do the boot but do your research and bring the parts. We'll have a boot corner set aside for you and Trevor.

Ok... So I did a quick search and indeed found the boot kits from toyota. Order from my favorite toyota place shipped to my door for $31 a piece.

Where should I start??? I need electrical issues worked on . I need both Water Temp and Oil pressure Gauges hooked up. Run and zip tie a few wires together, eliminate some wires, get rear turnsignals all buttoned up. Possibly mount aftermarket heater. cut Trans tunnel where it interfears with shifting into Low range, and add a Boot. Also I need my powersteering secter mounted more firmly , thats what added to my death wobble. I really want to get back wheeling! I drove it the other day and that fuel (FOOL) injected V-8 is strong and sweet!!!! Maybe I can get Oscar to come over as well. :steer::steer::steer: PLEASE PICK, ME PICK ME!!!

Oh yeah I forgot Passenger side rear Wheel cylinder is locked up. I have some backing plates that came off my old yellow cruiser that Tate is cutting up to make a Truggy.

the solution to replacing CV boots is a solid axle swap, you will never need CV boots again :flipoff2:

We dont ever change CV boots. 2 new boots and labor to replace them is always more than a new axle assembly. Even if you are only buying parts the shaft is only about $100 and 2 boots are ~$60.

Plus you get trail spares...

Yep. I've been wheeling on this broken boot for two years; I decided I would replace when it started making noise. No noise, yet. However, I peaked in the boot a few days ago and it's packed full of mud, rocks, and small trees. I guess I should replace the entire thing, when I get the time.

Bump--

So far there's a bumper to be lifted off the ground and and some cage work to finish up. Then some minor axle/cv work to be done on a coupe rigs and then who knows what Hendog has in mind. Sounds like we may have 3 things going at once which is ok as long as we have tools and bodies.

Engine work is our weakness and should be kept to minor projects only, we're not prepared or have the time or tools to do head gasket jobs. Just sayin' now

We'll be grillin' burgers and dogs, bring your bevs.

Tools, tools, tools... We'll supply some stuff but bring whatever you think you'll need, Chances are if you don't have it someone will, but that said, if you aint got it you should probably own one anyway for your trail rig.

There are parts stores fairly close but not exactly right next store so be prepared. :bang:

:wrench:Tools to consider::wrench:
Eye Protection and gloves
A floor jack
jack stands
creeper
wheel chalks
drain pans
New Fluids
Camp Chair

I'll throw whatever I have in the truck which includes some of the above but please supply whatever you can.

Only 1 Rule: If you bring it you take it home with you, this includes anything from cups to trucks!!
