Do me a favor and ask around your networks for somebody with 83-84 BJ4* Cruisers. I need one! Send me Pictures or Phone numbers to talal443@icloud.com

I am in Seattle WA so if it is close to me DO NOT WAIT! CALL YOUR FRIENDS AND EMAIL ME NOW :)

If I cannot find one I will have to settle for a BJ7* or HJ__ whatever....
These things do not reSELL quick so I am hesitant to spend the cash on a BJ7* or HJ and not be able to recoup my costs a few months later. The 4* series is really where I see the value and these things cost money over the years SO help me start off in the best place and INTRODUCE ME TO SOMEONE WITH A DAMN GOOD CRUISER!!!!!!!

In the Dallas area are a few late 83 FJ43's for sale and I have a 1980 BJ43 for sale but what is your budget and location?

Mine will be around 30 K and I think the 83 FJ43's start somewhere in the mid 40's?

Hi mate

I can find you anything you want I do it as a hobby, there are loads and loads of bj40 in Europe, some BJ45 troopies and a few BJ42. Give me a Pm with an idea of what you want and a budget and I will send you some examples

@joekatana Im in Seattle and I am not the guy to spend over 20K

Then you are definetly looking at the wrong trucks.....or is the goal here to buy at 5K and sell at 20k?

These are rare very sought after Cruisers doubt you will find a running non basket case below 20K

Joe

Hi there, 1983 BJ42 not 5k USD but 6950€ , I am sure I could get them down.

I suggest that you go take a look at this one.......I did and drove away!

Especialy the 40's in Europe have been reworked many times and most of them are not desired in the US because of the changes people did when restoring the body like cutting out the factory floorboards and replace it with flat steel plate. It works in Europe but nobody wants to spend the $$$ on it here where there are plenty of original rustfree 40;s around in some states.

Plus your location says UK and if I recall there where never any 40 series sold there by Toyota right?

Hi mate

Think your very wrong, I just sent two 40s to Denver and the guy wants more. I just sold this one owner HJ45 with guaranteed 60k KMS no rust, I honestly think most guys in the States would want this. i do this for fun not profit and you would not believe how cheap i sold it. Yes there is a lot of crap in Europe but there are always gems, don't buy from near the mountains is my advice. I would agree it is better to spend more if you are looking for BJ42 in nice original condition but 8k € will get you something pretty decent

I will help anyone find a cruiser I am 100% honest, I own a business with warehouses in Amsterdam, Barcelona, France and the Uk i have staff that speak every European langue to talk to sellers anywhere and store vehicles until transport can be arranged.

Good for you then.I lived in Europe for 35 years and get back every few months to get some stuff and visit friends and family. There are indeed a few nice ones but they are far and between. Most stuff I find (and the car dealers that are always on the lookout for me)is to rusty or screwed up in previous resto attempts that I part them out and just ship the diesel drivetrain over.

Looks like the pickup comes from southern Europe,I just stay in the center ;)

Out of the dozen car dealers I know and can trust I can only send one or two to really inspect a 40 on my criteria, the rest would make the mistake of buying a truck that is very good in the market in Europe but would not be appreciated here in the US where originality is a must.

Hi mate

I would agree there is a lot of crap, my web guys built this site, its not very up to date but gives you some idea of stuff I have sold. Take a look at the Green BJ40 we sold, it was owned by a Toyota main dealer and he had it from new, it was orange and he changed the colour to green but the truck was like new having only done 23000 miles from new, all work was documented, it was just as it left the factory

Very nice but you might want to take a bit more care in the accuracy of your listing. No such thing as a 1984 BJ40 with a 3000 cc motor ;(....Unless it's some weird Latin American spec build with the leftovers. All Euro spec 1984 where BJ42 with 3B so 3.4L engine. These things matter to people when you are shipping them a truck sight unseen. In this case they could get an upgrade but there are many BJ42's floating around in Europe that have been robbed from the original 3B and front discbrakes and replaced with a B and drumbrakes. You do not want to sell one of those and the average car inspector has usualy no clue of those changes.

Where did that truck came from?Never seen a late model 40 in the BENELUX delivered in orange or with a bench seat in the front, wonder what market they made that for?

Joe

I don't think the listing is wrong, The green BJ40 was from Portugal I have some great contacts there and cruisers in Portugal are different from the rest of Europe no idea why, all BJ45 are 12 volt for example, all BJ's in Portugal are 3 seats in the from and four it the back, they didn't have BJ42 the BJ40 ran until the the BJ73 started it seems, I am no expert but I think the Bj40 ran in Portugal until 1984, you certainly see a lot registered between 1980-1984.

You do need a guy on the ground to buy in Portugal as a lot have been on the beaches and are rusted through, but then some are from the Hills are solid. I had one once form a Port vine yard and the owners of the vine yard even gave me a couple of cases, most Portuguese people are very nice.

I do know where there is another perfect BJ40 if anyone is interested, its 10,000 €
