Hey new here, I just bought the cleanest looking 100 series I've ever seen. It's lived Cali for 4 years Central Texas the rest of its life.
Engine sounds great, Open the hood and no rust from looking down, Frame looks great really great very little to no rust, when I had time this morning and took a flash light
to appreciate the new to me Land Cruiser and learn more about the fine details on it I noticed a rusty bolt (that could be going into the engine? not entirely sure) from under the wheel well that stood out.. I quickly checked it to my 2015 4Runner that also has no rust on the frame to compare to see if rust there common and it had a tiny amount on the bolt but not as much as the LC, maybe the LC has more rust there cause its older. I'd like to share the bolt picture and get your opinion, Am I being to paranoid? Engine sounds amazing the LC is freaking awesome and I'll be selling my 5th gen. Words cannot adequately express how eagerly I've awaited owning a Land Cruiser.. This LC extensive and meticulous maintenance history with no rust on the frame made me jump on it! The Green circle on the image was taken from the wheel well on the Drivers side image 1 I included the frame and the new to me LC, Your thoughts and feedback are greatly appreciated. After all these years, I'm finally here!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I would sell the truck (to me!) if you are worried about the extensive oxidation build up that is evident...:rofl::rofl:

Seriously though... if you are able, remove both bumper covers, wash the underside of the truck, blow out the debris and dirt inside the frame rails and crossmembers and call it a day. If you want to go the extra mile... you could scuff the frame and hit it with a semi-gloss black enamel and coat the inner frame with a WoolWx or similar coating.

That looks like it left the showroom a month ago! Don't fret over a single bolt! And yes....TOO PARANOID!

Appreciate the solid advice! Haha, I've been meticulously examining every detail and I think I'm officially obsessed with my Land Cruiser!

Citrus car wash soap in a foam cannon, and a big tire brush will get that undercarriage looking extremely nice. I have done this twice on my 100 Series. After I did that. I slide under and wiped down the entire frame with water and a shop rag and it looks insanely nice.

Great advice, I really appreciate it.

Since all those rusty bolts on the undercarriage are part of the AHC system, it’s a good and (reasonable) excuse to do an AHC delete at this point in time.

The AHC system is in excellent condition, and there's no rust on the Height Control Pump whatsoever. The bolts are at a reasonable distance and appear replaceable if needed. I'll be keeping my AHC for the time being.

Thank you for your input. I’ll consider the possibility of replacing the AHC system in the future, but for now, I don’t think it’s an immediate concern. There’s a Land Cruiser specialist I plan to take my vehicle to eventually for a thorough in-person evaluation, and I’ll make sure to bring this to their attention. It's reassuring to know that someone with experience has pinpointed the exact location of the bolt and identified it. This is a big step in getting to know my Land Cruiser, Feels good to be apart of this amazing Land Cruiser community! 🍻

If AHC works without issue... keep it as is! I am certain you will not have the issues , we in the Northeast rot region, deal with... Unless you plan on doing extensive off road excursions, your AHC ride will be unbeatable! Plenty of threads in here to read through regarding AHC issues, remedies and alternatives.
