I have been reading this great forum for 10 more years, and finally decided to register) First of all, thanks to all of you for a lot of helpfull information.
My name is Vadim, I am from Moscow, Russia. I also lived in the US long ago for about 3 years. Hope my English is not so bad yet, and all of you will be able to follow me)
I am the happy owner of TLC80 for a 20 years, and also have a 4Runner 185 with 1KZ-T engine. Before these cars, I was running on 4Runner 130 also with 1KZ-T engine.
I do use my TLC80 on everyday bases, and also for the long range trips with my family - mostly to the Caucasus mountains, Armenia, Georgia. I love my TLC80, it has 1HD-FT, mechanical winch, 33" BFG AT, front ARB bar and rear custom made bar. It use to have rear ARB also, but I finally get rid of it, cause it is very complicated and inconvenient.
My TLC has a lot of mods on engine and transmission. However, I'm trying to keep the suspension close to stock - OME springs with no-lift. The most noticeable upgrades are:
1. Elimination of EGR system from the engine.
2. Twinscroll turbocharger and exhaust manifold.
3. Water-cooled intercooler
4. Custom oil filter from truck
5. Air filter from TLC 100.
6. Stainless exhaust system 70mm from Fujitsubo.
7. Custom center differntial Qaife + original visco.
8. Custome rear differntial Quaife + original hard lock.
9. Original front diff lock
10. Snorkel, Webasto etc.

WBR,
Vadim

Welcome to the forum :flipoff2:. I like colour - not sure i have seen that on an 80 series before.

Welcome Vadim, some interesting mods on your vehicle.
The color 8k0 (Nightshadow Pearl) was also available in the US from 95-97 as far as I know.
Although it seems like no 80 with this color looks the same 😅

Hear some tips from my setup for factory turbo diesel 1HD-FT. If you want to get a real HI efficiency with LOW MPG from this motor - you need to twinscroll it. My friend Den is a very good welder, and thanks to him, we finished my twinscroll swap and many other upgrades.

Den made an outlet from stainless steel for this turbo. Now, I am going to modify this outlet, by adding separated exhaust way for wastegate valves. It will improve gas flow through the turbine at high RPMs and reduce EGT.

After installing twinscroll, we removed factory FTE intercooler air-air and installed custom water-air one;

No, it is not - only cold housing. I was considering, that CT20B from TLC100 is similar to the same turbocharger from Celica205. But, not to my fortune, hot wheel appeared different together with cartridge body from a hot side. Cold side of the cartridge fits perfect to the TLC100 compressor wheel and cold housing. Finally, we made a Celica205 turbocharger with cold housing and compressor from TLC100, because at that moment I had factory intercooler and piping from 1HD-FTE and didn't want to spend lots of money to replace it.. And at this moment I regret, that I didn't have an opportunity at those days to order Celica205 machine milling compressor from China (time shortage). It would work better with my setup.
Here is the difference between TLC100 FTE turbine wheel and Celica205 turbine wheel:

P.S. The original idea was to replace just the hot housing on TLC100 CT20B on Twinscroll analog from Celica205 CT20B.
