Hella 550 Light Question (1 Viewer)

Wiring up side lights, Hella 550 and the wiring diagram requires the lights to have the headlight on in order to run them. How would I wire in order to be able to use the lights with the headlights off?

Easy. Power from battery to switch and when I say power from the battery it need not be from the battery directly it could be a switched on ignition power supply or it could be an always on power supply. I usually go from an aux. fuse box to the switch. And I almost always wire my aux fuse boxes so they are always on. Not good for those with poor memory. GPS, CB, extra lights, etc... will drain a battery really quick. The cool thing about power to Hella lights is they always include the necessary relays so there is isn't a huge amperage draw through the switch so even a light wire would do. You could probably safely piggy back it off of something else.

I knew it was something like that....will try it out tonight. Don't have a 2nd fuse box just yet, but will find some source, cig lighter maybe.

How would I wire in order to be able to use the lights with the headlights off?

I connect mine to the parking lights instead of the headlights.

Its supposed to be illegal... but yeah if you splice into the parking lights instead it'll work.
