This was no 3FE, twas the mighty 1FZ!

Estimated weight on the roof???
That's what I want to know.

this may be a silly question... but what is the purpose of the cables from the front bumper to the roof rack. nice rig btw.

So, what kind of gas mileage were you getting w/ that much weight?:)

We usually get 10-11mpg fully loaded. Im guessing some where around 8 this trip. But this trip was the worst kind of driving. Through towns and through rough roads/whoops. Didn't even bother taking real world numbers.. but i can check the GPS mileage and get back to you.

Yes! 1FZ! I dont know where the 3FE came from.. but we have a 1993 with the 4.5 liter folks. Estimated roof weight we calculated but i'll have to check on that for you. It's written down somewhere. Think about 600-700 lbs.

Limb Risers, from what i gather here on mud, ( not my experience) is they push all the branches away from the windshield

Big Green is correct. We've used them twice in all our days with the rig. We have more chance of hanging clothes on them than actually using them in the bush.

Wow, that's an impressive heavyweight weigh-in! Are you still running on 295's (Dynapro MT's) with all that weight? I think the Hankooks are my next shoes - I'm sticking with 295. Sweet rig!!!

SOCALFJ- maybe the 3FE comments are coming from the "FJ" part of your username vs "FZJ"? Just a guess. Anyway- awesome rig! Can you tell us how much the rig weighed in at alone (without the trailer weight included)?

To all of the heavy load naysayers out there, keep in mind that the towing rating for the 80 in other countries is substantially higher than what our own DOT allows. Because he correctly has trailer brakes, the total weight was still under the max rating (with trailer) allowed in OZ/UK. So, yes it wasn't DOT approved weight and yes the truck was built to handle it no problem.

just curious if you have done anything to the cooling system? Does it run much hotter when loaded down?

**DING **DING
By the way those are "Super Heavies" 864's out back that normally ride level on regular trips :D

It seems you are a candidate for 868s. I flirted with the 864s for one trip before converting to the "super super heavies" - best suspension move ever for a rig as heavy as yours or mine. Virtually no body roll and very safe and secure feeling at speed with no harshness. Or maybe at least airbags for the next time.

Yep, still the 295 "D" rated Hankooks. It would have been nice to run E loaded tires on this trip though.

Usually the LC alone is about 7000 lbs before a trip. Fully loaded is only about 7400.

What Markus said.

It does just fine. It has a new fan clutch and we run Royal ice in our radiator. Thinking about doing a electric fan.

Yeah, i've been playing around with the 868's, but this is the only time i've ever 'actually needed' them. So i'll probably just stick to the 864's for now, and if i need 868's for a serious expedition i'll go that route. They're cheap enough to have as back ups IMHO.

Right on Dave. Glad to see the rig is doing so well!!

Good to hear from you Guy and thanks. You going to be at SNT this year?

My sincerest apologies. I read your post as though your cruiser alone weighed 10000lbs. All those years of schoolin didnt pay off, and its obvious I should read more closely.
