The heater valve control cable in my 1990 4x4 pickup with 22RE (RN101) seize and broke. I had to take the dash apart to replace the heater core and figured I'd take care of the cable at the same time. Unfortunately the part is no longer available (55907-89117) even overseas.
I'm between either sourcing one from a junked vehicle and hoping it isn't almost rusted or buying a newer part and pulling the inner wire out and fabbing my own. Has anyone tried either of those approaches? I've already made a replacement by putting a new piece of wire through the plastic sleeve and it seems to work fine, but I'm not sure how long it'll last.
