Heater core repair in Victoria

Where would you guys recommend to have the end caps resoldered on the island?

I called Townside and they indicated upwards of $95. Which isn't that bad.

Any other ideas? Has anyone here repaired them themselves?

I've never really looked at it... is it similar to soldering copper water pipes?

More or less... Clean it up till it shines, add acid based flux, heat and solder. Then pressure test to 13+ psi.

Doesn't sound that hard to me... I'd just get the propane torch out and do it myself... do you remember if that parts truck I took apart on your driveway had a spare heater core in it? and if we kept it?

I never saw it. I've got a spare to practice on first. just not much time at the moment.
