At 80k mine was dark, but after changing it had much better feel. It is hydraulic fluid so the dark isn't oxidation and combustion byproduct like motor oils, it is all breakdown of the fluid and the seals...
 
Just curious... why not drop it into low, take a turkey baster and drain the AHC fluid, and then top off with fresh fluid?

A big-ass syringe with a hose is better. Even with the screen removed there isn't a straight shot down to the bottom of the reservoir.

Yep. I found it easier just to use the bleeder valves. You won't have much luck getting to a spot in the tank that can suck much.

...Just don't forget to add new fluid after each bleed cycle.

I came from the lx470. Big ole reservoir in clear sight. I have an oil extractor... maybe ill use that...

Reservoir was in a waaay better spot on the 100-series. No idea why Toyota moved to such a hard spot.

Probably to reduce exposure to heat.

Yeah, I used one of those Mity-Vac hand pump deals with clear tubing to snake down in there.
