do you have a “connector harness” from the IPF to the low beam bulbs? i have hella housings and they came with a short wire harness. i had dim lights when the wires were in the set up as they came. i had to move a couple wires around until i figured out which ones actually went to which post on the bulb. mine work perfectly now. i just don’t remember which wires went where off hand. i can check tomorrow maybe

I do and that would be super helpful to know harness to bulb colors and harness to IPF harness as well. Thank you very much!

so i went and looked at what i’ve got going on. if your wires are long enough you should be able to plug the IPF harness straight to the bulb. my extra harness really is only acting as an extension cord. my hella one corroded so i put a new one in. looks like this...

i do recall having to move a couple wires around in my hella harness though

So to say this back to you, if your IPF wires were linger, you'd plug them straight in to the bulbs and get the same result....

yes.

is that not working for you?

i also plugged the IPF straight into the original harness. no swapping wires at that end

let me check my high beam wiring. maybe it’s something in there i’m getting mixed up in my head. i did this about three years ago now

Haven't had time yet. Will take a look tonight.

If we ever meet, I'm going to buy you a thousand-million beers.

It's embarrassing but I got so wrapped around the axle following different threads and also talking to Curt that I made the pin adjustment in two locations...at the IPF harness and at the H4 harness, too. Once I converted the extension to just that--an extension--bam!

Thank you amigo.

Good information for troubleshooting, thanks. I'm troubleshooting why I don't have high beams. I've pulled the switch apart, and it's all clean. What I've found though is I have 6 volts at the inlet of the fuses for the headlights. Is this correct, and there's some magical wiring going on? Partial voltage through the relay? I've switched them around, with the same results. Looking at the schematic, power goes from the battery, through the fuseable link to the relay, and then through the fuses.

Update to my previous. I've put everything back together, minus the steering wheel, and turned lights on. I get a solid 12v at the fuse for the head lights. When I turn on high beam, I get no dash light for it, and the low beams go or completely. Checking the switch again.

Another low beam that went dim on the driver side then completely out on both. Can't seem to figure out what to check next. I am using the FJ62SLC harness but measured voltage off the original plugs.
Low beams not working, high beams work, no high beam light. 12v at the passenger side original harness plug, NO 12v at the driver side orginal harness plug. Changed the steering stalk swtich, no difference. I hear the relay switch when I switch to low beam. Both 15a fuses are ok. Orignal harness back to the firewall looks intack, but high beams work, so I doubt that would be the issue. Am I missing a relay to check for just the lows? Other causes for just the driver side power to be out?

Jumping on this old thread as I sort through some of my own FJ62 (1988) headlight wiring woes.

@slcfj62 or anyone else here please start by educating me on what the blue female connector (drivers side) and the white female connector (pax side) are intended for? Photos attached. It seems they would logically connect to the adjacent orange fender marker lighting, but those are connected via a different connection (seen in the pax side photo below) and both sides are operational. Additionally, those orange markers do not blink, correct? Simply just marker lighting? THANK YOU in advance!!
