Headlight differences 94 v 96

I’ve heard that headlights are not interchangeable between 94 and 96 years but what is different, the mounting location or what? I’m finding 94 year lights for sale (used) but not very many 96 year lights. Can the 94 year lights be modified to work?

There are a few minor differences including one mounting tab; so to make everything line up others have also swapped the grill from an earlier model.

Ah, hopefully some who has done this will chime in. I have some 94 lights that I can buy but now it’s a different grille I have to get too.
