It's what the instructions that came with the TPI header said to use: Permatex Ultra Copper. I'm afraid I may have messed it up though. After I had tightened the bolts about 1/2 way I had to back-track and install different washers which I couldn't get until the next day. The stuff may have been too dry by the time I torqued them down to specs. I may have do the gasket over. Not the end of the world. Part of the steep learning curve I'm still on......
Hey, anyone out there in Cottonland have a spare thermostat housing for a 2f? I stripped mine clean and busted out the bolt hole this morning. Will pay $$.
Victory! After 3 months of sitting I drove my truck around the neighborhood a little today with header rumbling like a dragster. Greg escorted me to the muffler shop (thanks Greg) where the truck awaits muffling. To those who aided :
Greg for much encouragement and and wrench twisting. John Mills for indespensible technical advice along the way + a few late night wrenching sessions. And for all the helpful input and suggestions on this site. Jeff 'Preciate the tip about the TPI4 x 4. Brian for emissions photos and input. Heath for just coming by to see how it was going. (I'll always be there to call when a tree falls on Olivia). Thanks to Ben for hosting stuffed animal parties.
Now I just need to get those 33s mounted.....and regeared....and a roll cage....and lockers.....and a CB radio.....and an on board restroom facility with plasma screen tv...and.....
Congrats Barry! Just in time for school to start. If only the road crews could complete projects around Jackson like you did this one! Bring it to the inspection Sunday.
