I am changing out my 63s in the rear and going coil. I have searched marlins site as well as mud and have had a very difficult time getting any info other than coil-overs. I am planning on keeping the front leaf setup for now because it seems to flex very well. My rear setup needs some work and I don't want to keep trying different leafs. I am looking for 5-6 inches of lift to match the front.

I think an OME medium spring for an 80 would be ideal. The stock springs from an 80 give about 3-4 inches on a 2nd gen, so if you went with the 2nd gen mounts and used the OME 2.5 spring, it should be pretty close to what you want. Also, the OME stock height springs might work well if the lift springs are too tall.

I thought about the 80 springs, but wouldn't they be too stiff?

That was my thought too.... build for a much heavier vehicle.... Unless you were going to carry a lot of weight back there.......

It's actually going to get lightened up a bit. I'm thinking about bobbing it once I get the coils in place. I will occassionally carry stuff though.

I know it sounds aweful, but what about a tj coil? Do you guys think that would give me good flex? Maybe a front xj coil?

What about an LX coil? Some folks find them to be a little softer.....

I think you are on the right track with the jeep coils though--similar weight vehicle and there are lots of options for getting the right height.

I have a filter set so I can't read posts with J##P content.... that must be why I can't see your post..... :flipoff2:

I didn't sugest it cause I'm a purist..... Anyone know what kind of stock lengths the $(#* coils are? Or a good company that makes lift coils for them?

I run the OME 860's on my 4runner, but it is heavier than your first gen.

I love them. They flex great, and stabilze my on road ride.

Put a big bumper with a big tire on it, load the back with tools/fridge/etc and put in a roll cage. (can't remember if you have one already...
