Has anyone had a Crawl Control switch go bad?

I just discovered that I can't get my crawl control to come on. I ran the switch test in the repair manual using techstream and it failed. I also checked continuity for the on/off switch with a result of 4 ohms when it should be less than 1 ohm according to the repair manual. This leads me to believe that I have bad switch. I'd hate to spend $300+ on ebay for a used center console if the switch isn't really the problem.

Had it ever worked for you?

If not, most likely has some coffee or cola spilled inside it gumming up the mechanism.

I haven’t had this specific one apart but in the past lots of Toyota switches were serviceable by people with good attention to detail and some skill working with small parts. Maybe worth looking into..

Yeah it did work before. I pretty much never use crawl control so probably the last time I checked it was a couple years ago at least.

I should have mentioned I took the whole switch assembly apart and everything looked fine. There was evidence of coke spillage underneath the console but the switch assembly was unaffected and completely clean. The circuit board in the assembly looked fine. It has a lot of smd resistors on it and I"m guessing maybe one of them went bad.

Looks like I can get a new switch assembly out of Dubai off fee-bay for about $250 so I might just pull the trigger on one.

Alternately do some digging at car-part.com to see if there are any of these chassis sitting in salvage yards and try contacting them to see if they still have that part. I don’t often see posts about problems with them so you could reasonably assume a used one would be ok.

Or, since Toyota reuses switch gear in so many platforms and applications, try to figure out what is more common that would have that switch and be easier to find domestically…

ive had my AHC lift button go bad, i ended up buying a used console and replaced the whole thing. Worked after that
