Has anyone done this to a 60 or 62?

Hi frends,

you have finding my Landcruiser HDJ 100, wow:bounce2:

I have this car Reconstruction had sold him.!
It is a pleasure for me if he had fallen out.
Unfortunately, I can not so good in English so that I do with a Translation Programm Work.
If someone wants to know something, just ask! Maybe in German if possible.

Yours sincerely Ronald

sweet my email worked. anyone know german?

Willkommen Ronald!

This is a great thread! I tried fabbing up a top for a heep that I had but never got it finished....I still have the alum. frame and a portion of the pop top....I'll see if I have pictures to post. Anyway, I can tell you it's a lot of work and a lot of Alum....I purchased all my alum. from the scrap yard, by the pound. I'd still love to do it to my 60 someday!

Ummmm, I can pick my way around German a little bit, so if anyone has a question I will try my best to translate....but it will probably be the german equivalent of his english.

He sent me about a dozen pics, can someone post them if I forward. I am not to good at posting decent pics.
wagongear@mac.com, I can just throw them on my idisk and link them here.

the Westfalla top on the brown 60 looks to me to be from one of the '80s vintage bus, should be readily available in a scrap yard near you. I know the tents are replaceable and I bet JC Whitney still sells-em.

Alright, thanks to calphi, and a big thanks to Ronald:

Thanks for posting those Kevin, nice work Ronald!

Do-able but a bit more challenging in a 60.

The lower section could be made out of steel so you could weld it on to eliminate one less leak worry. Plus cut down on the dis-similar metal issues.

I can fab steel but I've never worked with aluminum. So the base in steel sounds great wiht the top portion being made with Aluminum - I'll have to farm that out.

Does anyone have any interior pics without the head liner? I'd like to see the cross sections and side rails. I just felt up my headliner (:hhmm: and ther is one just aft the B pillar and another after the C. I would probably keep the B pillar cross piece and box it from there to the rear.

kevinmrowland - thanks for posting the pics

rbcruiser - awesome build!

Holy crap that's nice!

Um, like, Dude, I might have a pretty nice tub in here in a couple of days...

When do you want to start?

:D

i'm not a 60 owner but me an a buddy of mine took out a doormobile pop top off a 70's bus(vw) not all that hard ... there are so many diferent tops doormobile ,westi ,and sundial .the openings are diferent sizes because the pop up part changed over the years getting larger...we bought the top for 50 bucks in a junk yard

Hmmm, I just bought a new welder and a plasma cutter. Sure would be better than weldin stupid chairs together all day.

But I think people would rather have me welding their tailgate lids than a pop top.

ok, that is just sick! I have never wanted to own a 100 before this very moment.

Now why not do the base in steel so you don't have metal issues and do the top in fiberglass or carbon fiber?
Just a thought.

blue thats close to a doormobile.....it has four windows in the top and hinges on the side...left to right
