I recently installed an electric 300 pound overhead winch in the rafters of my garage. With 4 motorcycle tie downs, I can remove or install my hard top by myself. It really takes four strong backs to manually remove or install the HT. It has to be lifted pretty high to engage posts. IMO the electric winch is the only way to go. I don’t hang it, wouldn’t want to be under the HT working in my garage.

I got this (out of stock on Amazon currently and appears to have gone up about $20 since I purchased it in 2015). Works great! Take off the shelf and use hooks/2x4's/tie downs and it is an easy one person job with the hand crank.
