There's and opportunity for anyone looking to get their ham radio operators license in Cowichan/Duncan area this coming month. I've registered.
All the info is in the picture, it took a day or so for Donna to get back to me so don't expect a quick reply.

With all the vhf radios circulating around I think it would be best to be properly certified.

I think I'm going to rely on my aviation licence. Can't see why not. If you take the course and it comes up I'd be curious to hear the answer

Hmmm, I'll have to try. I used a HF to cross the Pacific a couple of times. When I was in Santa Maria in California
the first time, we had a radio antenna issue and I called a radio place in San Diego and they wanted my license number
to sell me a coupler and antenna. When I told them it was for an airplane, gave them my airplane registration and they
sold me the stuff.
Chilliwack is offering a course over that Sat and Sun. The Duncan course is neat, but no way I can go 4 weeks like that.

Does anyone know if we can use Marine hand helds? I have my Restricted Radio Licence
If you programmed the radio for the same freq as the FSR radio's, I don't see why not.
My rebellious, anti-authoritarian stance is so long as we are not causing accidents with logging trucks,
and ourselves, we should use radio's as we see fit.
Has anyone, ever, been stopped on a logging road and asked for your radio licence?? Thought not.
Pretty sure the shoulder patch brigade don't even care about these rules.
