I didn't hear Lash say anything about big tires, did you hear Lash say anything about big tires? Nope, I didn't hear Lash say anything about big tires.

We don't think Lash said anything about big tires.

Now lets get back to the topic which is how big of a tard your cousin has proven to be.

IMO:

An FJCruiser vs an FJ40, both dedicated to no worries about body damage, same size tires, similar drive train mods: I'm bettin FJCruiser wins. The 40 is cooler lookin, but the FJCruiser goes more places without braking parts. Side note: most 40 owners can fix their own s*** without asking for a tow to the dealership. Not sayin no FJ owners can wrench, just that they aren't wrenchin like 40 owners yet.

Just my humble opinion.

You must not have ever wheeled with one. I would say a 40 will out do a fjc all day, any day.

Screw it, I'm buying a Hummer H3

lets be realistic here lash, you can't wheel an ifs with big tires, you'll blow cvs just as fast as a fj40 will rust.

You are right, I overstated my point. My point was that badass was wrong to completly discount the trucks because they are IFS.

The trail team wheeled the canyon last year in their truck, which impressed me. It was fairly stock with a small lift, bigger tires, some body protection, and recovery equipment. They only pulled cable once or twice on a trail is a challenge for me in my truck.

I'm betting that when FJC's start showing up at rides with low gears, upgraded pinion (fjc weak point), hardned axles and 35's we will be pretty surprised by what they can do.

I'm betting that an FJC set up like that will be able to do most if not all of what an FJ40 with a 4" lift, 35's and a rear locker can do.

That being said, I still think they are ugly.

More better Sir... I think the FJC's are nice rigs in stock trim but have seen too many problems with link bars, steering stuff, etc to be comfortable wheeling one hard. I wouldn't mind having one for those lighter wheelin days in AC comfort though. That said, it would not be that hard to take a rig like this one and do an SAS on it and have a great wheelin rig. If I had the cash I might be tempted to look at it myself.

As for the H3 - that's a whole nother story. I spent a lot of time this summer leading groups from several Hummer dealerships around the Hot Springs ORV park. Mostly H2's and H3's. Gota be very careful where you take those things - especially the H2's (they break steering components if you look at them wrong)

You already have an H2: 2005 Chevy Z71 4WD Suburban

Ok, the Suburban is just for transport. Euclid did you forget the Neshoba County Fair?

and I guess Darrell you talked me out of it how bout this?

:grinpimp: notice its crawlin the curb!

X2.

Most of it has to do with the driver behind the wheel of the FJC. Some FJC owners (not all of them) get their FJC, read the Toyota Trail Teams magazine (I think you get a subscription when you buy an FJC), and go out there with limited experience. The truck is capable, but some owners/drivers are not. Some people likely mod it before it even hits the dirt.

I agree with Greg and I have been pretty impressed by the FJC's abilities. Ugly truck, but they are growing on me...somewhat. I think future mods will add even more to it's ability. I will be curious to see...

Greg, i have also wheeled with the trail teams 3 times, and don't get me wrong they are capable trucks, but they have far more limiting factors compared to an fj40. REally, they both have there pros and cons. Fjcruiser has wheelbase, fj40 has solid axle. Now if you want to compare the fjcruiser in a stock form meaning that the cv angles are stock, then yes it is strong. I'm saying as soon as you lift them up, put big tires on there, they have several week points. In stock form, great truck and i don't think they are ugly when lifted, i think they are BADASS. I would trade my truck for a 6 cylinder turbo diesel SAS front fjcruiser any day of the week! Anyway, i've been to grayrock too much, i literally drive through canyon now like its a sunday drive haha

Is the canyon still intact? Last year there were rumors that it would be mined by now.

Any new "easy" trails like the canyon?

I don't think FJCs are offerred with a turbo diesel...at least they aren't mentioned on their international sites...school me if I am wrong.

Thats the problem with grayrock pretty much every trail that was rated 3 has been torn down. Me and Tony are real good buddys, and tells me all the stuff he has planned. Hes pretty much mining the hell out of everything. The one trail he said WILL remain is the canyon because of its beauty and there is no other trail like it in grayrock. Theres not much us cruiser folks can do. I mean there is, i'm just saying there are way more rated 5 hardcore trails than 3 and below.

FJ Cruisers suck as bad as Halfass at donuts. Toyota R&D tuck a dump on a piece of scratch paper and sold it to a bunch of H3 buyers that would rather have "Toyota reliability."

I agree with Greg.

Stock FJ Cruiser versus Stock FJ-40 and the FJ Cruiser wins the trail.

33's and the FJ Cruiser still wins.

35's and up I give the nod to the FJ-40.

We took Mark Hawley's FJ Cruiser through the Rubicon Trail on 33's and it did way better than the one FJ-40 that was on 33's in our group. Of course the driver had a lot to do with it.

The WWFJCD can wheel remarkedly well, I'm assuming we're referring to the ones with ATRAC. They follow me whereever I go, but it hurt's sheetmetal.

In my opinion it is driver over machine, BUT by stock do you mean the fjcruiser had NO rear locker and NO atrac???
