Ive got a 60 series 5 speed witb manual h4 lever and want too convert too vaccume shift ...do i need too go inside the box or can i bolt my vaccume stuff strait on if i ever need it ? I also need too change the input shaft from h too b series too

The mode rod that the vaccuum actuator or the manual linkage shifts is different between the 2 versions, with different detents so you'll need that at least.
The transfer case has to come all the way open to change the rod over, but its simple to do

This link below shows how to go from vaccum to manual - should give you an idea. There's a good link on here somewhere which i'll try and find.
The Wagon Way

Thanks for that , im putting this together as a spare so ill re use my old vaccume stuff if i ever need too do a swap.... Any thing too watch for if i find a B series input shaft and attemt too swap it ?

I've not swapped an input so I can't comment on doing that - its probably easier to keep an eye out for the right box and bellhousing and swap the transfer over - they come up on trademe fairly regularly and there's only 3 or 4 variations

Course spline - all F engines, 2H and 12HT
long fine spline - B series
short fine spline - 1HZ, 1HDT

Great info here:
some h55f and split case tech

Yup...mines an h series.... i need a b series shaft if anyone wants too swap...or ill re use mine if it ever needs too happen.....for now ill strip it for parts and build a crate for it to live in.

Trade Me - Listings from bf-109f4

has all sorts of cruiser bits (often more than listed on TM). give him a try - I've brought stuff off him before and he's solid.

The guy said it was manual h4 but this is vaccume isnt it ??? The detent hole is blind and untapped....he gave me a gearstick and a different nose cone too.

I've got a BJ73 with a vac-activated tfer case. I picked up a manual activated case off an earlier BJ60 or BJ40 4-speed, and intend to pull my case at some point and either fit the manual case if it'll work, or mix and match parts to make one that will.

How do you contact him. I can't register on Trade Me due to it being limited to New Zealand and Australia. The U.S. is not listed in the address area

I cant for the life of me see what the advantage would be ??? The toyota vaccume system is pretty simple and probly more reliable and tidyer than a bunch of leavers and links .... Its also a pretty simple job too bypass it it you ever were stuck without it working.

I just like having a lever to engage h4. I know that if (when) the VSV fails I can just swap the hoses over to engage 4wd, but I prefer a lever.

Also I'd like to put a diff lock switch in the spot where the 4wd button is.

Makes sence when you put it like that... I just see my two trucks with over 700,000 between them and both vaccume systems working mint.
