ok so my h55 is leaking from the top. what’s the best way to get at it to fix it? drop the tranny or pull the interior and the tranny hump? advantage of dropping tranny is i can do rear main seal but not sure i need to at this point! otherwise looking for the easiest way a one man crew can address this issue

is your transfer low?
is the oil migrating from transfer to trans?
if the above is correct the easiest would be the hose setup

nope. transfer is fine. reputable tranny shop took a look and said it was top plate on my tranny. i just didn’t want to pay $1000 for their time to drop it and reinstall. i can see where it’s dripping down as well and it’s definitely coming from the tranny

For a pro, with a lift, transmission jack & air tools, it’s probably easy to pull it out. Removing the top plate from inside the vehicle is a 1 banana job, just slow and tedious. Remove front seats, front carpet, shift boots, shifter, transmission hump. Unbolt top plate.
