Hey Guys -

I have a big GX460 Knock Sensor/Harness Project next week and I'm wondering about using 3rd Party Knock Sensors, do you guys have any experience or recommended brands of 3rd Party Knock Sensors?

The Lexus/Toyota pricing for OEM Knock Sensors is insane, they want almost $1000 for 4 sensors and subharnesses! $150/per sensor and $47/per for Subharnesses. I see that there are NGK, FAE and other brands on the marketa.

Any favorite brands, experience using 3rd party sensors, any thoughts?

Many Thanks - Howie

OEM Toyota sensors are usually made by Denso, although some are made by Hitachi. I'm not sure about knock sensors specifically. Looking on Rock Auto, they offer NTKs (usually Japanese-made) for $84/each. Every other brand they offer appears to be non-OEM brands.

I'd only use OEM Toyota sensors or sensors made by the OEM manufacturer. If your can verify that the OEM Toyota sensors are NTK sensors, I'd get those from Rock Auto (probably the exact same sensor you'd get from Toyota).

I would not use a non-OEM, non-Japanese sensor anywhere in a Lexus/Toyota.

Many, Many Thanks! Makes sense, I totally get it. Sounds like it's just not worth saving a few bucks with non-OEM Sensors. 👍

If you can verify the OEMs are NTK, I'd definitely buy NTK. I'm honestly not sure. If you can't verify, I'd go OEM. Pulling the intake is not something you want to do twice.

💯 This. In fact I would not use ANY non-OEM part if I could help it. Especially sensors and engine accessories.
