Grounding Alternator case? N terminal?

Anyone have a pic/write-up of how they grounded their alternator case to the block/frame?
Also, i read that the N terminal on the alternator that isnt used, can be used for an idiot light. Idiot light for what? And how? Because yes, i am an idiot And i could use another light

The alternator bracket is the ground between the case and the block. The quality of the ground is important, so Toyota also ran a separate ground wire (white with black stripe) between the case and the voltage regulator to be sure that the regulator sees the same ground potential.

The N connection or the common connection of the wye wound 3 phase stator can be used to monitor the power output of the alternator using a charge indicator "idiot light". It is used in Fj60s and other Toyota applications in conjunction with a different voltage regulator that has a relay built in for the indicator light. Look up a schematic for a early FJ60 to see how it is wired.

Thanks. I think im gonna try hooking up a charge indicator idiot light, since i seem to be having charging issues. It would be nice to know what my chargin system is doing...or isnt. Im starting a new thread on my charging problem, feel free to stop in and post pinhead

Relevant question. I have a new set of gauges for my rig that has a GM Alt installed. Would I want to hook up my new voltage gauge to the N terminal?

EDIT: Disregard this. I have an older 12SI 2 wire alternator.
