One thing that gives me pause about this one is the row of buttons along the left side of the OEM head unit on our 2008-2015’s here in the states. How critical are those buttons? Doesn’t seem like they would matter all that much since you wouldn’t need the OEM Nav having CarPlay and thankfully climate controls are separate. I’ve recently discovered this now that I’m shopping for an older 200 myself.

To me that’s the biggest Achilles heel in the 200 post refresh. Climate controls being integrated into the OEM head unit means it been impossible up to this point to get a full blown aftermarket head unit assembly. Instead having to resort to these android boxes that tie into the OEM system.

This has been the case since 2000 my brother. Unfortunately ... :-(. One could get the parts to swap the 200 parts like the GCC in the East ... But I never got to do it. But they did / do exist , sadly not here in USA.

I had it installed for a week and driven around 10 hours in that period and have had zero issues. I hope I don't jynx it, but so far I couldn't be happier with the unit. Carplay is really well done (with improvements incoming) and it's such an improvement over the stock unit. I really think it allows the 200 to be a more well rounded package, given how important technology is in this day and age.
hey there,
Now that the units been in for abit have any more issues arised?
I bought a Lc200 recently which has a different branded unit installed and the quality is just not quite there, the issues im having is whilst using waze the map seems to lag, my position wont match up to where i actually am on the road its about a minute behind, also when playing music through spotify the song skips like an old scratched CD whilst having waze open, if i turn off the screen, music goes back to normal clear sounding.
Im looking at upgrading to one of these CCSS units, if they dont have the issues im currently having ill go ahead and get one because the using the current unit is quite a pain!

My friend that sounds horrendous. You won't have ANY of those issues with this unit. The connection is incredibly stable, I have only had split seconds dropouts a couple times, and one of the times it was because my phone, not the unit, needed to be restarted. The only little nitpicky thing I noticed is when I am in reverse and go to drive (or when i activate the cameras and switch back to the head unit) it shows the toyota display for a split second before the switch. Not always, but sometimes. It's honestly barely noticeable. Especially if you turn the stock screen to music and turn off screen switching, so that when the screen is shown for that split second it looks akin to a loading screen for the carplay. I love this unit and could never go back to stock. feel free to DM me if you have any concerns

I am not sure why you guys are paying so much more for these CP/AA units, when you can buy a Beatsonic unit with wired and wireless capabilities for about $750. Unless you really want/need the android apps to play netflix or whatever in your screen (which, unless you are parked, you should not do anyway due to traffic/safety regulations) the Beatsonic is in my opinion the best bang for your buck out there. To each their own, but the BT unit has been great for me since I had one in my old 2017 4Runner TRD PRO. Bought another one for my previous cruiser (still the wired version) and now have one in my HE working as intended. If you had it running the last time you turned the car off, it boots up right back the next time you start the engine without needing to press any buttons. I am not affiliated with Beatsonic or receive anything back from them. Just sharing my opinion and giving credit where it is due.

Maybe folks want higher resolution screens? The Beatsonic is essentially an interface, no?

I doubt any of these CP/AA solutions available in the market today actually changes the resolution of the screen. I believe the only way to do so is to actually change the screen for one with a better resolution. Not my cup of tea, since I like the OEM design.

Maybe Custom Car Stereo would entertain a Group Buy here if we can bring a substantial order to them? Just a thought!

Hi Guys, I’m Andrew from Custom Car Stereo Systems in Australia!

If you have any questions about our G3V4 interface kit, you’re welcome to ask them here and I’ll respond ASAP.

A few quick facts:

* Our interface kit is exclusively made for us by our supplier, there are a few other businesses that have obtained our kits over the years and had them copied!

* They suit 2016-2021 models only (we have a 13.1” replacement unit for the pre 2016 models which works fine with the U.S. Land Cruiser)

* The one big advantage of our interface is because it’s Android based, you can download apps via the Google play store and use them “natively” on the system. Apple CarPlay + Android Auto are great, but do have some limitations!

We are happy to provide a discount code for a group buy, unique to the IH8MUD guys! Please reply if you are interested so we can get an idea on numbers and work out a discount amount.

Thanks!

I'm interested!
I’m interested as well, but lower priority given all of the other accessories, etc I’m spending money on first. For the moment I’m using this Amazon unit which has honestly been plug and play. Might just do a surface mount on the Gamiviti grille cover when that anrrived and call it a day for now.

From above post:

Does this mean you download Android apps directly to your interface unit?
