Okay, its time to grease up the truck: unis, tierod ends, etc and maybe even repack the bearings this weekend. In January I bought a couple tubes of Catrol Synthetic multi-purpose grease thinking that it would be an all around grease I can use anywhere. It is rated NLG1 and GCLB - whatever that means. Now I am wondering if I can be used anywhere. It would be great for the trail if I could. Then all I would need is one tube of grease with me instead of two to three tubes. The other thing I was wondering is if i have to clean all the old grease out or is it good enough to push out the grease until the new synthetic grease starts coming out. I checked the side of the tube and the castro web site and neither say very much.

Well I have never had a part fail ever. I guess you have done some wheeling in the snow and presure washed your vehicle, right? It doesnt really matter about mixing grease like it is oils (engine, tranny xcase) Back to grease U joints tie rods no problemo, when doing wheel bearings NO completely clean and inspect and use synthetic. I take it you knew that already. Dont pump out the seals on the U joints.
I grease my parts with LITHIUM and do it once a month because I do alot of water crossings.

Thats one of the reasons I bought this stuff because is said on the tube that it was good in water also. But I got to thinking that manufacturers often claim more than is true. The thing that got me thinking was this grease was not listed under the off road or industrical lubricants on the web site but under consumer lubricants.

it depends on how you are gunna clean the bearings, if you throw em in a contaminated solvent tank then youll *** em up with all kinds of stuff., wipe them down and spin em and see if there is any dirt in em , if there is flush then wiht brake clean and repack, if they are good, the just re pack them bitches

wheel bearings...fully clean and don't get them mixed up. A bearing and race are a match. Otherwise they wear quicker.

Take the bearing and put it in an old coffee can with brake clean. Let it sit overnight or a long time. The grease will disolve out. Then blow air or wipe it clean. Any wear like faded areas or chips, replace the bearing. Pitting, replace the bearing.

U joints put in the your multi grease.

CV jpints use an extreme pressure grease with molyidium disulfide(black s***).

One grease doesn't really do all IMOP>
