After nearly 2 years, I got this baby restored (frame-off). So happy. :D The pix was taken on the day I got it out of the shop. Drove back to the house. It now parks safely in my garage. Call me crazy but I can just sit and admire its beauty for a long time. It's a 1976 RHD. I have post it here once before. A few months back I think.

:steer: I drove it around a few times and noticed how sturdy and stiff this beast is. No wonder it can withstand all the things you thrown at it. Let's see what I got in it;

Engine: 1UZ V8. Axles & Trans come from early model Toyota Prado: so it comes with 5 speed trans and front disc brake. Fuel tank is place under the bed, 75 liters tank. Power steering and air condition were added. Now I need to put in a nice sound system :)

That looks sweet, we want more pics!

Thanks guys!

I forgot to mention about a few other stuff. The seats, they are from BMW 3series. Quite comfortable, but too bad there isn't much room for the legs. :bang:

Shock absorbers are Pro Comp. Wheels: Rock Crawler
On Monday I'm getting a new set of parking lights on the bib. The clear lens just look too good to pass. Got a buddy of mine bring it over from the US. Again, SOR has been 1 of my sources for parts.

I did this baby some shopping from a few countries: Philippines, Bali and US.

Some more pix ;)

Welll,.... I must say that after browsing through all of your great builds from ih8mud, and exchanging lots of conversation with like minded people, I ended up knowing what I want to do with my truck. :)

This baby is considered a gas guzzler, but I normally do short runs on the weekends. So 1 tank can last me 3 weeks. I'm sure I'll be broke going on a long trip with this thing :steer:

Mama love this truck. She said it is beautiful. Wifey likes its look but dislike the ride. She kept comparing it to my Honda Civic  Looks like I'm gonna have to take my mom for a ride more often than my wife :hhmm:

As nice as the work is on it, get rid of that RTV and put an OEM oil pan gasket

There is a story behind it. During 1 of the test drives, i noticed there was lots and lots of engine oil squirting out around the oil pan. The mechanic was suggesting that it is the oil pan gasket that dried out. So I called the shop to get me the gasket for it. After calling several shops, No Luck. I ended calling Lexus dealer which later told me that I have to order from Japan and it take.... no kidding... 45 days until the part arrives. I'm not going to wait that long in such emergency case. That's how the RTV came about.

That's not all of the story. In fact, the oil pan wasn't the problem.

Look closely at that picture above again..... check out the right corner. You see the cork there? Yep, this 1UZ is missing the dipstick. Before the incident, the previous shop must have covered the hole with something, a golf pin, or whatever...

Again, I went looking for the dip stick at several places, even junk yards. no luck. :frown: Guess where I went..... back to Lexus dealer. To make it even more difficult. Other than the 45 days wait, they cannot tell which dipstick would fit mine since 1UZ have so many different specs. Even with engine number they cannot tell. They recommended that I order all 3 different kinds from Japan .
:bang:

Btw, this 1UZ has the rear sump. Supposedly, it doesn't come around here much. This is 1 drawback guys. Parts are hard to find around here. Any suggestions are welcome

Nice truck. I used to own an old LS400 with 1UZ. Pretty smooth engine with auto tranny. How does it drive with 5 speed? This website has a lot of infos on 1UZ www.lextreme.com. Where are you located by the way?

It does fine with 5 speed. I got a new Bell Housing made to fit 1UZ with the 1KZ transmission from Toyota Prado. Acceleration is very good, but I think I need to change the gearing in the differential so it can do better than 110km top speed. :p

Btw, I live in Bangkok Thailand.
